At approximately 7:20AM, a small fire started while workers were preparing to begin pouring a concrete wall. The fire department came on site immediately and the fire was promptly brought under control. Fortunately there were no injuries and there was minimal damage to the site. There was a partial stop work order issued but Tishman Construction, one of the most active construction companies in NYC, is pleased to report that the overall construction on Flushing Commons continues.
In support of the Department of Transportation’s efforts to alleviate traffic congestion around downtown Flushing, the Flushing Commons team took part by contributing funds to deploy Traffic Enforcement Agents around the area.
Tower Crane 1 was installed on the weekend of 5/1 – 5/3/15. We want to thank the community for accommodating the logistical procedures in order for the operation to be completed successfully.
As part of the development team’s ongoing commitment to minimizing construction impacts and keeping the local community as updated as possible, regular construction updates (including traffic changes, street closings, etc.) will be posted here periodically.
